I was convicted in larceny when I was younger, but a felony lasts forever. I was thinking about a career change into real estate, but I don't want to enter the field if I'll only be an agent and never allowed to become a broker. Does anyone know for sure if a larceny conviction would stop me from getting a brokers license or not?

You are screwed! If you were a drug dealer it would be no problem. But.... because your offence is considered a fraud or theft type problem the commission is not going to allow you to become and agent. Sorry, Just a fact of life. I personally know a ex dealer that is doing real well in the business. But he had to go to a heavy interview and explain his past and generally kiss *** to get the license and then they put him on a probationary license for a couple of years. If you have a conviction on anything theft oriented, No way!

If they have got been blank for 7+ yrs....Im lovely certain. Still, it is so difficult for a felon, bc of the stigma of being one, starts a vicious cycle of now not being competent to hold an "sincere" task, and having to inn again to "a lifetime of crime" b/c theres few employers inclined to rent one. Depending on their offense, If any individual alterations and will move 7 yrs. N keep blank/ no list than they greater than need to be a realtor, in the event that they want to be. Sooooo I wish so.

As I understand it you can apply and the commission then determines whether to grant you an application for the testing and licensing based on the disclosures you give them regarding the conviction.

Yes it will, it would be difficult to get a license as an agent, but you can plead your case to the real estate board.

There is enough corruption without giving larcenist a license to steal.
