I want to find something special for my godson. I like the idea of buying something like a charm bracelet and adding on to it each year however a charm bracelet seems a bit too girly. Is there anything else more boyish I could do?

He is a baby and I would like to start it on his christening and then add to it each birthday and/or christmas after that.

Why not buy him a share of McDonald's stock and ad to that!

Tell us his age a little bit about him.

If he's really young, like 10 or under, it may be hard to find something special that he would appreciate.

If he's a sports fan, perhaps a poster or a piece of memorabilia of his favorite team or player.

Music fan, find out what music band/artist he likes the most [and has liked for a long time. A lot of the new music is quickly in and out of style] and find something from the band.

Really depends on the age..

I mean, if he's 16+ perhaps a nice watch. Try a Burberry watch from burberryusaonline.com

Xbox 360 with Halo 3, that's more masculine than a charm bracelet

Theres a few things out there you can get, I'm not sure on how much you would like to spend though. Or the age of your godson.
I know of a store called, things remembered, (don't know if its only in California) but they had a beautiful carousel, for pictures.
You can get a special order little truck with his name engraved, is it for the christening, or another type gift.

Start a collection for him... There are a lot of collector items out there... what does he like? Airplanes, cars, etc,.
We bought coins from the mint, they are put out quarterly. We bought them for years and just recently gave them to our son's, it was quite a collection, and they were very impressed. We love the silver dollars!
There are stamp collections, art collections, sport collections. I like the stock idea too... a nice little portfolio, anything that will prove to be of value to them in the future...
It is a great way to let someone know how much you love them and are wanting to make their future better. What a wonderful thing!

A silver bank. Then put real silver coins in it for him. When he is old enough, he'll have a coin collection that's worth something.

Or silver bars, one ounce each. They are made with a huge number of designs on them, and you can probably get them at most any coin shop.

My point, obviously, is something collectible that will increase in value as the kid grows up.

How about a rookie of the year baseball card and giving him the rookie of the year card each year. 50 years from now the could be worth a bunch and may incite him on a hobby

Go ahead and get a charm bracelet and add to it every year. Give it to him on his eighteenth birthday and tell him that he may give it to his 'one and only girl' after they get married. That way SHE will wear it, and YOU will be much appreciated for the wonderful gift.

You could make a story quilt for him. I'm making one for my brother with memories of our grandfather as the theme. He can't really remember him well, but knows all the stories from the rest of us talking about them. You could make one with godparenting as the theme and the role you intend to play in his life, major events you want to participate in etc, with the last square with you as a "god-grandparent!"
