When it's cold outside, my car has a hard time starting. Also when driving and I come to a complete stop, it has a hard time accelerating. It "chugs" so to speak. If I let my foot off the gas, and put it back on, it USUALLY gets going again. Does anybody know what could be wrong?
Also, when I turn on my AC the car over heats.
HELP!

I am guessing your car is fuel injected and the check engine lite is not on ? If so you need to look at the throttle position sensor (tps) and check the idle air control (iac) also, they are on or near the throttle body. Also you might want to clean the throttle body. For the heating problem stop at a RADIATOR SHOP, not an auto repair, and get it checked. Stay away from dealers.

PROB # 1- YOU HAVE A CARBURETOR PROBLEM WITH THE FLOATS. THEY BECOME SATURATED AFTER LONG USAGE AND DO NOT WORK PROPERLY AND STICK. i BELIEVE YOU COLD STARTING PROBLEM IS WITH YOUR AUTOMATIC CHOKE, IT IS A ROUND BLACK THING ON THE SIDE OF THE CARB. IT HAD A SPRING INSIDE AND WHEN THE MANIFOLD HEATS UP IT RELEASES.
PROB # 2- YOUR HOSES ARE SUSPECT HERE. I WOULD CHECK THEM FOR COLLAPSE. IF YOU FIND THAT IT NEEDS REPLACEMENT. ALSO YOUR RADIATOR COULD BE CLOGGED UP, NEEDING CLEANING OR REPLACEMENT. LET US NOT FORGET THE WATER PUMP, AND BELT THAT TURNS IT. LISTEN FOR SCUILLING OR SLIPPING BELTS. TIGHTEN IF NEEDED.
