For those who don't know about this:

I don't get how alienating a key ally Turkey benefits the United States. Is there any positive to this resolution that I am missing?

Chainsaw, That is the way it looks to me. I am just wondering if anyone has any legitimate reason for Congress to make this the time to dig up ninety year old genocide allegations.

Alienating Turkey helps democrats. They are vested in our defeat. We lose Turkey and we cannot finish in Iraq. This is treason.

Since Hillary, if elected, has nicksed getting out or Iraq the dems are having to dig very deep to find muck.
Apparently, this is Pelosi's job while other senators attack the radio talk show hosts. Fortunately, this attack is based on false statements and even proven as such the senators continue with the same mantra- it this dumb and dumber!
And now they are even resurrecting Al Gore, pitiful.
They can not start their usual scare tactics, on seniors, about social security and medicare until after the primaries.

Basically it is agitate, agitate and stir the pot.

This is nothing but a way for the democrats and Pelosi to barb Bush and hurt the war they want us out of.
From the 1930's until the 1990's democrats were almost always in control of congress yet they wait until now to decide to push this resolution. The timing stinks to high heaven.
This resoulution will accomplish nothing but allow the democrats to say they did something.
I'm pushing for everyone to call Pelosi's office and call your State Representive and let them know this will not do.

This genocide (if that's what it was) that happened almost 100 years ago is tragic but waiting this long is even more tragic and it smells of partian BS.

Serving her constituents.
""California hosts the largest Armenian-American population. The first Armenian to arrive in California was called Normart, which means new man in Armenian. He settled in Fresno in 1874. In the 1920s, Armenians began to move from rural regions to cities, such as Los Angeles. By 1930, the Armenian population of Los Angeles was the largest in California. The largest concentration of Armenian-Americans is located in Glendale, California, where 26.2% of residents identified themselves as Armenian on the 2000 US Census[3]. Many cities and counties located in the state of California have sizable Armenian communities, including Anaheim, Bakersfield, Beverly Hills, Burbank, Fresno, Hollywood, the farming areas of Imperial Valley and Monterey County or the Salinas Valley, North Hollywood, Pasadena, Palm Desert, Palm Springs, the San Diego area, and the Greater Los Angeles area (made up of Los Angeles and Orange County).

The eastern part of the Hollywood district of Los Angeles was named "Little Armenia" on October 6, 2000[4]. Armenian-Americans gather in multiple towns and cities every year on April 24 to take part in a protest for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide. The largest of such protests occurs in the Los Angeles area.""

She's fulfilling a request from the State Department. This resolution is something the United States kicks around every 30 years or so, to keep Turkey in line diplomatically. I don't think it's going to work this time.

It makes more headaches for Bush, plain and simple. If Dems are so concerned about this issue then why did they wait almost 100 years to do anything about it? I saw documentaries about it during the Bubba Defilement, why didn't they do something about it then?
