Life is so short. Why don't people just do and say whatever they want?

If we all did just whatever we wanted to do without any thought or consideration for what others might want, it would be total anarchy, and we would all be forever fighting and arguing with each other.

So it is because life is so short, that we need to find ways to make it possible for us all to live together in peace and a reasonable degree of harmony.

It is the ability to think and reason in this way, that sets us apart from the lower species of animals.

Regrettably, some members of our species as a whole, seem to be regressing back down the ladder of evolution.

Actually life is not short. We are all eternal spirit souls, We never die, only this material body dies. So we carry our results of our actions with us to our next life. For example. One should question why is a baby born sick or healthy or in a wealthy family or a poor family or a child is abused or treated very well. This is all due to past Karma. (reactions to past actions.) we are creating our next life with our actions and words. One should take up the process of Purification and self realization to realize the true self beyond this body. We are not our race, color, nationality, religion, job, gender, etc.) But we have to act according to the laws of Nature and God otherwise we will suffer the consequences. NO one goes free.(unannounced to most Christians) Even they will pay. Jesus forgives past karma but when one is now following the Truth they are to stop sinning. "Go and sin no more." He is only telling this to help them not to get the reactions for their actions. We should give a dam about others, not just be concerned with their own suffering. Unfortunately we have evil selfish ppl everywhere. If they are allowed to say and do whatever they want, the young and the weak won't last long.

Because if we did that it would be the Hobbesian state of nature, survival of the fittest, chaos etc. For those of us not bowing down to a jewish zombie or assorted other deity, or living amoralistically we form a rational code of morality. Whose fundamental principle is reason as a means of knowing, from there some choose altruism and others rational self-interest.

I do whatever i want and I do say whatever i want... I work at a computer lab and i just called a kid a jackass to his face. I said" why don't you quit being a jackass and sit down!". I am also eating at the computer which is prohibited. This philosophy also pertains to my life outside of work.

Because we could go to jail and/or society would not accept us so we would not get as much joy out of the life that we do have.

because everything and anything still have to follow certain set of law (man-made or natural)... so the freedom you seek or believe to have is simply an idea... because you will still pay taxes... and there is a "Community Guidelines" that tell us what we can and cannot say here....
