It's not true that all lesbians are butch. I have met some very attractive feminine lesbians, who would surely fool many if not most who aren't familiar with the lesbian subculture.

Some indications:

Does she go to lesbian bars or coffee houses?

Does she read lesbian themed books or magazines? Does she have the lesbian and gay newspapers? Does she attend or participate in Gay Pride events?

Not all girls have to act like a guy, I have plenty of friends that are lesbians and none of them act guyish. some don't even act like a lesbian. Some will be straight up and tell you that they like girls. on the other hand if she is bi- then look for sign-es like looking at other girls like a dude would.
