u should use parenthesis, since different people can read the equation in different ways
the way i read it, was that 5x,4x, and 10x were the denominators, as opposed 4/5 of x, 3/4 of x, 3/10 of x
anyhow with the former, i would multiply both sides by 20x, which gives you (4)(4) - (5)(3) = (3)(2) - 20x As you can see, 20x wipes out the denominators and settles down in the rear
the rest is easy, as you multiply and simplify, giving you 1/4 or .25
when i was younger, i used to use the LCD, but i discovered it was more efficient to just clear out the denominators

you need to find the common denominator which is 20 so multiply 4/5x by 4, 3/4x by 5, and 3/10 by 2.
so it would be 16/20x - 15/20x = 6/20x -1

4/5x-3/4x=3/10x-1
Assume you mean
4x/5 - 3x/4 = 3x/10 - 1
Multiply both sides by the LCD of the fractions (20)
16x - 15x = 6x - 20
x = 6x - 20
-5x = - 20
x = 4

(4/5)x - (3/4)x = (3/10)x - 1
or
20(4/5)x - 20(3/4)x = 20(3/10)x - 20(1)
(80/5)x - (60/4)x = (60/10)x - 20
16x - 15x = 6x - 20
x = 6x - 20
20 = 5x
x = 20/5
x = 4
CHECK:
(4/5)x - (3/4)x = (4/5)4 - (3/4)4
= 16/5 - 12/4
= 16/5 - 3
= 16/6 - 15/5
= 1/5
(3/10)x - 1 = (3/10)4 - 1
= 12/10 - 1
= 12/10 - 10/10
= 2/10
= 1/5

Assume
(4/5) x - (3/4) x = (3/10) x - 1
16x - 15x = 6x - 20
- 5x = - 20
x = 4

Brackets should be used to avoid confusion.

Find a common denominator between all of the fractions.
The common denominator would be 20.
Your new equation would be 16x-15x=6x-1
then combine the 16x and the -15x to get x=6x-1
then subtract 6x from both sides -5x=-1
divide by -5 and you get x=1/5

4/5x becomes 5/20x 3/4x becomes 15/20x
3/10x becomes 6/20x
5/20x-15/20x=6/20x-1 ok?
so -10x=6/20x-1 then take away 6/20x and get...
-16x= -1
divide by -16 and get...
x= .0625
