by signing some kind of legal document at teh court house or something. Even if the person s an adult. Basically it is some psycho parents of a friend of mine...she does not have problem...got in trouble in the past but they will not let her live it down. They told her they were going to send her to rehab...they were gonna go to the court house or something. I didn't think they could do something like that to an adult against their will.....or can they?

It is possible to have someone declared mentally incompetent to make their own decisions -- at which point the court will appoint someone to make those decisions -- which could include sending the person to rehab.

The process is fairly difficult and complex -- and not always successful.

Actually it can be done if there is enough evidence of her/him either being a danger to themself or others. A judge can court order it, or 2 physicians can sign for it, making it a legal court document.
