Everyone has fingers crossed that it will go well. Its either going to be amazing, or go down in flames.

Putting Phil Redmond on the culture company board seems to have re-energised a bureaucratic muddle which had no vision other than feathering their own nests. Why didn't it happen 3 years ago?

As for Liverpool, you wouldn't recognise it, from the Albert dock up towards Bold Street and back across to the Bluecoat chambers is a massive building site. Driving into the city centre I am never able to keep count of all the building cranes, buildings are sprouting up everywhere, or warehouses are being renovated.

I can't see it all being finished for 2008, but I hope the city will be able to put on a great show, and allow people who are willing to listen to see just what a rich heritage Liverpool has. Unfortunately some people (see above) have already made their minds up and nothing we do will ever shake them out of their prejudices.

I'm excited as I've read the line up and there are a few things that appeal to me, there are many smaller things that get less press attention than the likes of Ringo and Macca, and many of these appeal to me.

Things have been up and down with the culture company, who for a while just couldn't seem to organise anything, however, things seemed to have improved and I am confident everything will be alright on the night.

I also hope that people can see what an already culturally vibrant city Liverpool is, even without this accolade, it was recently voted 3rd most creative city in UK behind London and Manchester and was also voted 2nd most culturally vibrant city after London.

Many new developments are taking place in the pool and we already had a rich historical heritage to go with this.

So overall, I'm looking forward to it and hopefully it will do the same for Liverpool as it did for Glasgow in 1990.
