Very simply. You stand by somebody through the easy times and the hard ones. Sure little gifts and amorous eyes are nice, but the bottom line is will you be there when they need you?
Sometimes, as hard as it might be at the time, you suck it up and do the right thing.
That's love. The other stuff is nice, perhaps even self serving.
No, real love is hard. It's about thinking more about the other person than you do about yourself. It's that simple.

Love shouldn't be something you only express at certain times. You should show someone you love them all the time and the best way to do this is to put them first. Last roll at dinner? Ask if they want it. Two conflicting shows on tv? Offer to record yours while you watch theirs.
And surprise, spontaneous gifts are great. They don't have to be expensive or monumental. If you're out shopping, buy them a candy bar or a little ring from those quarter machines. Just something to say you were thinking of them.

A card, song, flowers, candy, picture, hug, poem, love letter, jewelry, clothes especially lingerie, lol, giving an organ while alive, donating your organs upon your death, including the person in your will, doing something like making me breakfast in bed because you want to, write a book about me, paint/draw a picture of me, breakfast in bed---basically anything with or without a price tag that will make the other person estactic!
