I plan to move to Austin, TX in the next year or so and plan on going to University of Texas. Does anyone know where is the best place to buy a home near the campus?

I went to visit some friend in Austin who lived just west. They were around Bee Cave. It was a very nice area and this was the nicest Austin visit I ever had. However, I bet the commute to get to UT would be pretty bad.

If you're going to UT, you want to live downtown, or somewhere near campus. Traffic can be a pain. The east side has more affordable accomodations, but I would recommend getting an apartment somewhere central/campus for a few months at least so that you can feel out the city and decide where you want to end up. Campus property is not cheap, so you'll probably want to do a good bit of research on what areas would really be best for you.

I like Circle C ... a communicty with a lot of amenities like open space, parkslands, community center, etc. I know there are many that work at UT that live in Circle C. It is probably about 12-15 miles from campus but not a bad commute since your on Mopac most of the way.

I would go up around Round Rock. Austin is infested with Liberals.
