My husband and I are taking our two girls (five and two) trick-or-treating for the first time this Halloween. Becca (five) is a princess, and Leia (two) is a bunny. How can I keep them warm, but still let them wear costumes?

Make the bunny costume a little large so Leia can wear long johns and an extra sweater under it. For Becca, again use long johns, and add a nice warm cape so it won't look out of place with the costume.

Happy Trick-or-treating!

It sounds like they can both wear clothes under their costumes; I'd suggest that, but nothing too bulky or it'll ruin the costumes. Don't make them wear clothes over the costume, either: unless it really fits with the costume (like if Becca is a winter princess or something, and can wear a big fuzzy coat -- preferably white), it'll just ruin the whole reason for wearing the costume. (Some warm apple cider when they get home wouldn't be entirely amiss, either. I usually have wassail, but whatever.)

Depends on how cold it is there. I live in Ohio and it gets pretty chilly here. When my daughter was a princess I had her wear a matching turtle neck and sweat pants underneath her dress. It was purple and her clothes blended right in. I explained to her that it was more important to stay warm and healthy. Do what you have to do. If it is very cold there then they will probably just have to wear coats and live with it. They won't be the only ones I garauntee it. Once they see that they will be fine with it I am sure! Good luck!

Put the long johns on under the costume. That's what I did. They may look a little bulky, but, it's better than having to cover up their costumes. Happy Halloween!

Under clothes. Make them wear long underwear and an undershirt. The bunny costume should be fine because it's probably thick and she'll sweat in it. Princesses also wear royal robes.

Thermals work great. Having a small party at home would be fun too, your girls are young and having good friends over watching a fun kids movie and making candy apples together could be a great time. There are also malls and churchs who have children come indoors and have activities and fun things to do inside.
Then they could dress up, but be inside.

a nice thick cloak or poncho for the princess and a fluffy woollen bunny type coat (with Bunny ears hood?) for the little one. take them early before it gets too cold and take some warm drink in a flask. Have fun.

Thermals, long underwear would work great, for the princess, some tights would work greal for the bunny, pink sweats, white gloves for the princess and pink for the bunny Hope this helps :)

Have them wear sweater vests or long underwear underneath their costumes. Also, bring mittens or gloves for their hands. Maybe a hat for in between houses if its not part of their costume.
