I'm sure you've heard this a million times, but exercising regularly will help with sleeping problems. Another good option is Melatonin - you can buy it at any store and it's natural. Your body produces melatonin when it gets dark but some people don't produce enough which results in sleep problems - this just gives you that little extra amount that you need. I have a friend that takes it and she sleeps A LOT better and since it's natural you don't have the worries that you do with sleep medications.

To help your sleep come easier, try a hot bath a half hour or so before bedtime. Try reading a magazine. My favorite is to drink hot milk & honey, or hot chocolate. Home some of these work! Good luck

Develop a routine, like you would for a baby. Take your bath, make your tea or whatever, put your moisturizer on, brush your teeth...whatever it is, do it the same way every time so you "train" yourself that it's bedtime. Go to bed at the same time every night, and get up at the same time every day, even if you don't have to get up. Don't eat too late, and don't excercise too late either. Don't drink too much so that you have to get up during the night once you're asleep.
