In 2004 I had surgery for carpultunnel and ulner nerves displacement. Lately I've had a hard time doing every day things and I am positive I need surgery again. Its very painful and I cant stand it. I have an appointment but its not until November 5th. Any suggestions on how to make the pain go away until then? IBPROFEN and ALEVE and other medicine wont do the trick.

Carpel tunnel syndrome is caused by the repetitive use of your wrist/arm/ Whilst Ibuprofen and Aleve can help in the short term you really do need to go back to your consultant to let him decide what to do. It may be that you have to stop using the limb that is affected or it may not, only your consultant can tell you that - so bite the bullet and put yourself out of your worry and get some answers. Whatever the answers may be at least you will then have options to consider. Best of luck!

I'm not a doctor or a nurse but I've had some experiecne with this happening to my mom, and while she waited for her appt, she just wrapped her hand. Don't use it any more than you have to, save yourself the pain. Try taking a high dosage of Tylenol, like Tylenol Extra Strength or something like that. Don't over do it of course. Good luck!

See a registered massage therapist for treatment. There are ways to help treat your carpal tunnel and relieve pain and discomfort while you are waiting for surgery. The hard part about surgery is that it will just cause more scar tissue which can put more pressure on the ulnar nerve and cause more of the same problems. Massage therapy can help to stretch the area and reduce the impact of scar tissue on that area in turn reducing pain. Good Luck.

Hey, I worked in a Med-Surge Hospital for ten yrs and a Nursing Home for nine yrs. Most Dr's think they are hot crap. You are suppose to know what they are thinking and how to read their scribble. They need to speak clearer and write more legible.

Heat may increase the blood flow. Ice will reduce any swelling you have. Which ever works best for you. Also, not doing things like typing will probably let it fell better.
