I know a man who is 101. He lives in my grandmother's neighborhood. I can't even fathom living that long sometimes.

My grandfather died a couple of months before his 101st birthday. It amazes me that he could remember a time before television or even refrigerators. And things we take for granted (indoor plumbing, homes with electricity and a telephone) were considered luxuries, even when HE WAS AN ADULT!

It boggles the mind!

Close but not quite. My former neighbor at 97 would tell people she was 103. One day I asked her, "Miss Winney, why are you lying like that?" She told me, "Honey at 97 when you tell them the truth they look at you and wish with all their hearts that you make it to 100. When you tell them you are 103, they grab you and gush about how great you look. Which would you prefer?"
