It's a trojan usually. Download and install AVAST. Run a full system scan. Follow the instructions it suggests.

Chances are better than not from your explination, This is a plug for you to BUY something. The slow preformance is no doubt caused by the junk being downloaded on your computer from the sites you have went to. There are literally hundreds of thousands of these unscrupulious places that will screw up your computer if.
1. You must have a good Virus Software UP TO DATE.
2nd You need Spybot's Search and Destroy, Installed and use it every couple of days. (Free)
3rd you should also have Lavasoft's Adaware-2007 Installed and use it at least once a week as well.
Use the Disk Cleanup feature on your compyer Often as well.
Don't forget to use the Internet Options located in the tools menubar on your browser. Keep all the cookies and histories and all the other crap off of your computer you don't want or don't need.

defragging your system:
Most of you will be able to find the disk defrag program by clicking on the Start button, then choosing (All) Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and finally clicking on the Disk Defragmenter. If you have any trouble finding it, simply click on Start, then Help. Click on the Search tab and type in the word "defragment." The computer will give you a link to the defrag program.
