There is a double standard in order to preserve the victim status of blacks.
So long as blacks are percieved as victims, they need not be blamed for their own, collective failures.
By pitying them, whites keep blacks in a weak condition, continually dependent on welfare assistance, special empolyment measures, guaranteed college places- all that jazz. He who pays the piper calls the tune.
Actually, some black people will admit to being racist. But relatively few, as it doesn`t benefit them (at least not in the short term).

You forgotten about George Carlin who does use those words, does have jokes for everyone and is never called on it and a number of other white comedians that you can see on Comic View, Def Comedy Jam, the Bad Boys of Comedy and the various other live comedy shows (around my city anyway).
There is no double standard and it has nothing to do with slavery (I don't know why anyone even brought that up). There are whites who can use the n-word (I know two personally) and who can have big jokes for blacks and the stereotypes surrounding us. It's all in the presentation and, unfortunately, most whites have no presentation and sound ridiculous; like they're trying to imitate a rap video which comes off as racist and condescending. It's not just whites either, there are ton of blacks who should never, ever say that word because they sound the same way.
I'll ask the same question that I always ask, "why are whites and others so pressed to use the n-word?" I'll also ask all of the whites on here complaining the same question I ask a number of blacks on a fairly regular basis, "don't you have something better and more productive to do with your time than complain about petty $***?"

I've never really heard a black comedian using white racial slurs being serious. I could care less. Lisa Lamponelli(sp?) is a white comic who uses the N word quite a few times. She jokes about them. Her BF is black as well. I don't know how it gives her a right to use it though.
I laugh at both white and black jokes/slurs. I think it has to do with the N word being a degrading slave word.
For the record, I'm a German/Caucasian male. I don't take these people seriously. It's just fun and that's what they're paid for.
If you call me cracker, I'm going to turn the other cheek.
I agree on what you say about double standard though.

It's weird, but that's the society we live in. Because of the social oppression of blacks all throughout history, it is felt that anything considered racial against them is just unacceptable considering what their ancestors had to go through. Yeah, I hate double standards because they are exclusionary and they themselves are racist. They only allow for one race to be able to say what they want to another. Still, any real answer to this question could easily be viewed as racist and that is just further adding to the problem
My theory is that blacks are just sickened by what whites did to them in the past to the point that anything considered offensive is what their relatives had to go through to achieve freedom and equality. Racial jokes are just a sick reminder of the past, and that is understandable. The past events of slavery and western imperialism of Africa are horrendous, cosidering the degree, magnitude, and harshness of the oppresion.
Still, the point remains that they could feel justified to say these jokes because they feel a sence of "you did this to us, but worse. Why cant we joke about our past now?" i guess they don't really see themselves as racist because whites dont care about the issue as much as blacks do.
Once again, this is just me thinking, and if i came out as sounding racist, that was not my intention at all. I'm just trying to analyze why society is how it is today. While the double standard is bad on-face, it has its reasons why it is in place. Also, many whites still are racist and say words like the n-word without considering what the context of the word is. This is a touchy topic and any neglect towards any kind of context or anything else can put it over the edge to the point where it really is racist, even if it really wasn't meant to be racist.

That's a good question. I guess they feel it is their "right" to make fun of whites because after all their ancestors were slaves. Whatever.
