Can the court access information that is usually protected by patient/physician laws?

Courts generally can -- unless the laws are specific that even a court order is insufficient -- but generally courts do not unless there is some specific reason or some specific law that allows it in a particular situation.

As for lawyers -- they can get their client's information if it is relevant to their representation -- and certain types of claims or defenses put medical status "at issue" -- which creates an implied right for the other side to access certain medical information as well.
