Nobody has ever been able to answer this question for me, so I have my own explanation. Dressing your age means wearing whatever the other old people are wearing or the "uniform" And it doesn't seem to matter if it's not your personality or you find the clothes boring. Who agrees with this?

I think it means to dress with respect to social status. Not everyone has a white collar profession, but it is nice to see a man in a suit at dinner with his elegantly dressed wife.....not t-shirts and jeans on a 50 year old couple at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse

It does not mean wearing whatever other old people are wearing. it is not a uniform. It is more about modesty and not being so revealing. Do you think that the women from Sex and the City dress old? I don't think so and most of them technically were in their 30s when that show was in its hey day.

i am 32 and shop at places like banana republic, ann taylor, ann taylor loft, nordstroms, j. crew. etc. To me dressing your age means not wearing such low rise pants that your thong shows, or wearing too revealing of tops, i.e. showing your mid driff, is not OK. Wear a bra please. I don't wear skirts that are shorter than just above my knee anymore. I wear shorts that are no shorter than a 3" inseam. I tend to wear longer knee lenth styles now.

It is just more covered up than your crazy 20s. You can still look sexy and elegant but more polished than something from Abercrombie and Hollister.

Meh, by way of "mature" she could imply "founded" (ie. has a role, auto, residence - now not directionless like plenty of 21 yr olds are). It feels like she's watching for anybody to exhibit her a well time and make her think extra grown up - and yeah, the truth that he has cash perhaps a draw. If he is courting a 21 yr ancient, I doubt he is that mature. He feels like he is looking to end up to himself that he is nonetheless younger, or is happy that he can eventually date the variety of lady who might have rejected him at 21 while he used to be a directionless scholar like different 21 yr olds. I have low expectancies for this courting... however stranger matters have labored out ago.

Not me! I am 46, and it doesn't mean UGLY clothes,
it means no belly shirts, no skimpy bikinis or thong underwear hanging out, no toe rings, no low-cut jeans and no mini skirts!

It means, nobody wants to see the old flabby bodies, so cover them UP!

I think once your over 35 your shirts and pants need to cover your stomach....I think your skirt should be long enough so I don't have to look at your butt when you bend over....Your cleavage isn't all that pretty anymore.....etc....keep it covered!
Dress classy instead of trying to be sexy.
