15-3y=y+13+y
15-3y=2y+13 combine like terms
15-y=13 subtract 2y from both sides
-y=-2 subtract 15 from both sides
y=2 multiply both sides by -1

This is straightforward.

15 - 3y = y + 13 +y
So 15 = y + 13 + y = 3y
So 15 - 13 = 5y
So 2 = 5y
So y = 2/5

15=3y+y+13+y
bring 13 over to the same side as 15, add all the y's together
15-13=5y
2=5y
divide both sides by 5 it will give you 2/5=y

1st you should add the 2 "y" on the left side. Then you must leave a variable by itself. So add 3y to 2y (which cancel out the -3y on the rite side) so now it should be 15= 5y+13 subtact 13 on both side of equations. then divide by 5. which will bring u to 2/5=y
