Because it isn't necessary to attack everyone. Just like most of us deal differently with different individuals, the same applies to nations. Iran's on the brink. There have been assassination plots against their leaders for some time. Why should we do what the Iranian people are perfectly capable of doing themselves and seem to be right on the brink of doing.
Have you noticed that we didn't attack North Korea and they seem to be falling right into line.
Stick with us there, Moonbeam. It'll all be okay.

Just give it some time my fellow writer. If Israel perceives an attack from Iran , well...knowing the mind set of the Israelis that is what will start it all. Israel will launch the first blow and then the United States will defend Israel.
Mark my words. It is comming. Just a matter of time.

We can barely support the conflicts we are in now. Spreading the forces too thin is the easiest way to loose.
Later Note: Besides it looks like Turkey is about to invade Iraq. We are going to be busy defending the Kurds.
Besides, I suspect we will let Isreal deal with Iran much like we did with Syria in regards to their WMD program a few weeks back.

Very good question. The only answer I have is that it is MUCH more complicated than any of us know (or ever will know). Most likely if we strike down Iran al quaeda or another terrorist group will strike back...and that would just cause more American deaths.
But....who knows!
