I don't want to spend money on a costume for a friend's house party, so I thought I'd wear a dress in my closet. It's floor-length and purple with spaghetti straps and rouching around the bust. I'm just worried about how to answer people who ask me what I'm meant to be. Any ideas?

One great recommendation was to wear a mask as if attending a masquerade... where can I buy one of these? I don't have time to make one.

You could get a wig and a tiara and say you are a princess or your favorite movie star or singer.
Or instead of a wig, you curl your hair and get a tiara.

1) Wear lots & lots of accessories. Get a tiara - go as a princess.

2) Add some wings & a wand to be a fairy.

3) Get a really nice face mask decorated w/ rhinestones & feathers so you look like you are attending a mascarade ball. Maybe do it up to create a peacock theme.

Okay, this is one of the costumes I'm actually considering. Get long white gloves, some purple accessories, pig ears and nose and go as Miss Piggy!

Get a sash and print Miss America on it. Get some diamond jewelry, too. (Costume of course)

Go buy a crown and go as a princess or a queen.
