They should make sure it's safe for them to withdraw. We don't want them to follow us and invade America like they're trying to do now. Yes, they should help repair some of the things damaged.

The big problem is that America invaded Iraq knowing it would win but did not have a plan as to what to do after the initial fighting was over. The invasion was only the first step. All the troops in Iraq whether American or otherwise must now help the government of that country to stabilise it as best they can and train the Iraqi army and security forces. Only then should the troops withdraw. I still fear that there will be a bloodbath once the troops are gone. The factions in Iraq want the troops out so that they can have their own war. It is a power struggle between different thinking muslims not so much fighting the invaders.

Difficult question :

I think that the US should finish what they've started even if they probably shouldn't have intervened in the first place.
They can't just leave because "it's a silly war" or "because too many American soldiers are dying". The American people knew that before their government declared war. They should assume their responsabilities and help Iraq get through this.

On the other hand, I saw a photo of a small Iraqi boy sheltering himself from US gun fire on the cover of today's International Herald Tribune. Just the very expression on his face makes you want to cry and makes you want to see the US leave immediately. I can't help but feeling "angry" at US policy on Iraq.

Well this might cost me ,but i think that all politicians who support the war should volunteer a son or a family member for service in the Armed Forces and they should then serve a tour of duty in Iraq. Then they could report back the true situation on the ground. The Washington Politicians could then ask more deliberate and realistic questions (free from patriotic illusions) like 'Why are we here'? and 'How long are we staying'?also "Is the current Iraq Government stable enough to allow withdrawl of troops'?

I remember a lesson that as a kid when I was in the boy scouts.

"you always leave a campsite cleaner then when you arrived"

I think the same lesson should be appied to Iraq.

they should withdraw the troops because since they are spending so much money on all the wars, CHINA will be ahead and more successful than us!

I think some of our leaders who were so hot for this war should start offering up their family members to serve instead of telling the rest of us about the sacrifices we need to make. If politicians and rich people had to sacrifice their family members, then there would be no wars.
