Well, just to let you know... Of the many beaches stormed by Allies, only one was defended by the Wehrmacht. The other beaches were occupied by Polish POWs who were forced to defend it, and also surrendered to the British and U.S. troops rather quickly. It should be noted that most of the Polish either died or were taken captive, whereas the German divisions fled into the hedgerows after the beach landings... About 380,000 total Axis troops went either MIA, killed or were taken prisoner after Normandy.
