SDS is a larger fitting than sds+ and not as common, sds is more common with chiseling machines than drills, there are adaptors available from sds to sds+.

SDS+ has an extra groove that allows the drill bit to be pushed into the chuck without having to pull back the collar.

SDS has an extra groove in the drill bits.

the difference is about £20, plus you have to get a new one.
The new sds is the sds custom slalom, with drill bits available for sensitive, stubborn, and hard to reach masonary.
obviously non of the old drill bits will fit.

sds and sds+ are the same fitting.

Sds max is a different size.
