It's always advisable to get it checked in case there is any other damage. If you have to wait more than 4 hours in A/E they are in serious trouble! you should beout or admitted by then.
One word of advice. Whatever you do dont go to Chesterfield hospital where I work.!! LMAO!!!

When I broke my toe, it was my little toe, I just put a gauze on it and then put tape around it and my other toes to keep the bone from moving, there is not much they can do at the hospital except give you a cast and that takes hours.

When i was 10 i broke my toe kicking the boy 2 doors up in the shin bone all they will do it tape it with the one next to it and tell you to take paracetamol so i wouldn't bother going to the hospital dan just make sure the wee girl don't jump on it or you will know all about it lol

No. Not an emergency so don't need to go to hospital. I had a broken toe it healed by itself but was painful for a while. Also had spectacular bruising which covered toe and ran half-way up my foot. Is yours bruised? If just a lump then maybe you should let your doctor look at it.

They don't usually bother about broken toes. Just tape two toes together for a couple of weeks and let it mend naturally. Thats what the hospital will do anyway. Just take pain killers.

Don't bother going all they do is x-ray (if not busy) send you home with the following instructions: Use Ice pack to ease the swelling, (this one they will do it in there) strap the toe to the next one, tight enough to keep it straight and paracetamol for the pain.
It will save you from waiting in a&e for hours.

I would go if i were you. I broke my toe but wasn't going to get it checked until my neighbour asked why i was limping so i told her. She thought she had broke her toe 2 months before me but it was actually her foot. Bits of bone were floating round and she had to have an operation. Better to be safe than sorry.

No, there isn't anything they can do unless the bone is prtruding out the side. Well except put a splint on it and charge you about $600 bucks.
These bones are to small to set, they heal quick, and the only down fall is you won't be able to bend that toe.
So ice it up take some Tylenol and tough it out. OR spend $600 Buck!

Broken toes usually just heal on there own. Its not worth the time and money. Just wrap it up and try to stay off of it.
