Who ever invented the mini blind I would like to meet in person for a well deserved frap in the beak! What a pain they are!

Psst, apt complex, 'their' white blinds required, no hose outside to wash, I am 5'2" on a good day, they are old and do not just pop off. YES--cleaning takes hours as they are flimsy and nasty. Buy new, only from them and trust me I could have lobster for dinner.

I'm with you!! I can never get them unclipped, and then there are those strings! They never get very clean, let alone untangled.

This is an easy problem to fix. First of all, the secret is to clean them at least every two weeks by dusting them. Purchase one of the duster things that will go in between the slats and dust.

The other option is purchasing the faux wood plantation blinds and replacing the cheap ones provided by the apt. complex. The cost is not bad. The cost is based (of course) on the size of the windows. They are very easy to run the fuzzy thing on them weekly. There is absolutely NO reason to wash them and go thru all that commotion, IF you maintain them weekly. Takes about twenty minutes, maybe.

Most apartment complexes will install them for free IF you purchase them. As long as they are white, of course.

What is the problem? Goodness it can't be all that bad. If it is cleaning them is your problem don't they are cheap enough to buy new ones. lol
do you remember the pull down blinds of years ago? Try getting those again, the are easier..
If you want to know who invented them to give them a flap in the beak, I'll say it was my ex- husband and tell you where you can find him!

ADD:
O.K. they are a pain. It was my ex. who invented them, I'll try and find out where he is so you can frap him.

And I had to look and look for mini-blinds for the upstairs! Most blinds now are at least 1 inch, and I needed 1/2-inch for the window frame. I installed them myself, and treated myself to an electric drill/screwdriver to do it.

But you're right. They're a beast to clean. I can get them down, but we'd had our tub resurfaced and cleaning blinds damaged the surface (we have a new tub now). And, as Noonecanne says, you can never get the strings clean enough or to behave (which is why I was looking for replacements!).

Maybe Skunkpayne can help you?

Can't disagree on this one...but I did find, (some column in a newspaper long ago) that the only way to clean them is to take them outdoors, (at least they unclip from their mountings) and use a garden fertilizer dispensor for a hose, only use dishwasher detergent, spray them down, let them soak, and rinse! They come out clean as a whistle, if this helps. Goldwing

I agree about the miniblinds. They are hard to clean.
If I tried that, it would take all week, and then I couldn't
get them hung back up the right way. The vertical blinds aren't as bad. Give me curtains, you can just throw in the washing machine and hang back up on rods. Much easier.

A few months ago I would have helped you search for this spawn of satan inventor. The cleaning lady messed up two of mine (obviously didn't know how to work them) so they kept getting stuck after that. Sure get new ones, but a hassle just like the blinds themselves.

I don't know who invented them, but I do agree, they are a royal pain to clean. When I did my spring cleaning I did end up taking them outside to scrub with detergent and spray down with the hose, but it took me and a friend of mine to do the job, and it was not fun at all.

I agree with you totally. I cleaned them alright, right into the garbage and bought curtains. A quick too in the machine, hand them up a little damp the wrinkles come out and they smell great from fabric softner.

Hell, Momma made me take them down about 3 times a year to clean. After the first time or two it was a snap. They are not to bad once you get the hang of it. Good luck to you.

I have them too and Goldwing is right . You have to take them outdoors to spray. The small ones I wash in the bathtub in warm water and Tide and take them outside to rinse with the hose and hang up to dry.
