Way odd??? I think the first thing I'd be doing would be connecting with the builder; or manufacturer of the door.

I want to assume hinges must be visible; if it's a usual passage way door.

I'll be curious to see other answers; such as chip through the wall finish to find how the door IS in fact attached, and to what?

If you want to add immediate style and value to your home, go with the solid wood. Upkeep on them depends on how you finish them. If you decide to paint them, then yes, every few years they will need a quick touch-up coat of paint. However, if you paint, it's important to use at least two coats of good primer to seal all surfaces before you paint. If you stain them, then you will need to save a small can of stain used to touch up any dings or scratches. You will also have to apply polyurethane in several coats, sanding with a fine grit sandpaper to achieve a durable finish. In my opinion, composite doors just look cheap. They don't have the personality and feel of a real hardwood door. It's ultimately your decision and do what's best for your budget.

Did you have the house built, or just buy it? If you paid somebody to put that door in, I'd call them up and have them come fix it, because they clearly did something wrong in my opinion. There should be visible pins to knock out of the hinges.

more than likly it nailed in place and have screws filled . . And a couple of hinge screw go into framing . If you have plaster/stucco just call the pros . They can remove with out expensive damage.
