His mom and dad were lawyers, yet he was just a reporter turned politicians. How did he come up with all his change to afford a big ol mansion in TN?

His Father was a U.S. Representative from 1939-1944, 1945-1953, then became a Senator from the years 1953-1971. Father elected from the state of Tennessee. The family did not lack money, nor do they now! He could afford to take a job as a reporter because his family had money. He did a good job as a reporter; his reporting caused some high ranking officials jail time for corruption in office.

Al Gore is a shrewed politician. He got most of his money much like most politicians, by milking the American people.

Oil and Coal.
His entire family made money from oil and coal.
Occidental petroleum whom he later as VP in crime sold our strategic elk hills naval reserves to for a nice tidy sum. why doesn't the US have strategic oil reserve fields any longer? Oh yeah Al Goreleone envirohypocrite yutz.
