I'm just curious. Are there a lot of people out there who think that an animal's life is just as important as a human's life? I know we are all living species and deserve love and respect, but doesn't it stand to reason that a HUMAN should put HUMANS first?

Furthermore, I hear a lot of people say that they are more endeared to animals because animals are loyal, love unconditionally, don't leave you, etc. It makes me wonder if those people are closer to animals because they've been hurt in human relationships.

But I think that It is the very fact that humans are complex and unpredictable and that we have the capability to hurt one another that makes us unique. A relationship w/ a dog is simple, and therefore, can't be compared to the complex relationships we have with other humans. There is little risk to loving an animal, whereas there is great risk in loving a human.

I am open to hear from those who agree and those who disagree. All thoughts and opinions welcome. Thanks.

I don't believe that animals are more important than humans, but I do think they are equally as important.

If I had the choice to save a human life or an animal life, I would surely choose the human, but try my best for the animal as well.

Animals are very smart... you ever notice how they look in your eyes? HOW do they know to do that? They are amazing! And have you ever watched two dogs play together? They look in each others eyes, and has any one ever told you the importance of eye contact? That is just something that makes me wonder.

I think animals should be treated better than they are being treated. I also don't think it will ever change. To me, most animals, such as domesticated animals-dogs and cats or even birds and fish-are like children: They rely on you to feed them, provide shelter, and love them.

I am very much an animal lover! I have many that are well cared for, but more than that I am a lover of children and our elderly who need so much! It isn't a child's fault they are born into families that can't give them the very basics in life, whether they are hard working or not, doesn't really matter when a child goes to bed hungry and cold. The elderly who have worked all their lives but never planned on paying 3 to 4 dollars for a gallon of gas or the same for a gallon of milk. They have to chose between toilet paper and a bottle of juice! It makes me angry, they have to choose between their medication to stay alive or their mortgage payment because the pharmaceutical companies have been allowed to raise their prices by 100"s of dollars in the last few years with out justification! An animal who is dying and suffering can be put to sleep gently and quietly with their loving owners by their side, but our loved ones are forced to suffer even though there is no hope of recovery!
Take care of our Animals, but take care of our humans first! I know MANY people are against welfare, but I am against making children suffer because they didn't have a choice and can not change things themselves! Sorry this is so long!

Good question because I've been wondering the same thing. An animal's life is not equal to a humans in the least. I'm not sorry to say that if I have to make the snap decision between hitting a child or a dog with my car, the child will live. Obviously that is an extreme case, and no I do not go around hitting things with my car.
Animals are creatures also created by God but they are to be tended by man, not worshiped.

Unlike Humans animals can not defend their selves.
Unlike Humans animals are 100% friendlier.
Unlike Humans, animals don't lie, cheat, steal, or murder.
I'll take animals every time.
