It's the same difference as between confident vs. arrogant. It depends on your attitude and whether or not you think you're better than others. You can be nice but still be self-centered, but you can also be mean and self-centered, so it depends on your personal attitude towards other people. Hope this helps! :)

The primary difference between THESE two -- hinge a great deal on "rights and responsibilities" !!
A self - centered individual does not really CARE about the rights of others much and feels very little responsibility toward them on any level !! Most all of this person's actions -- have themselves -- and not much else -- in mind !!
A confident individual is self-assured in their actions with a very distinct balance in play toward the rights of others AND a strong sense of responsibility toward doing the RIght thing through being responsible for their own acts !! They are at work For their goals but with an awareness of and sensibility toward others and THEIR rights !!

They're two completely different things. Confidence is just the feeling that you can get the job done. Being self-centered is believing that the entire world revolves around you.

How bout the difference between self-esteem and self-respect. Self-esteem requires feed back from other people so it can be dashed to bits in an instant. Self-respect means you are a child of God and you are trying. I think the line between confidence and self-centered can be crossed over very easily. I suppose with confidence one is grateful to God for the gifts He has bestowed on them and use the gifts for the good of others. Self-centered thanks no one, their focus is on themselves, and the only one they want to bless is themselves. Mmm

Self-centered people have too much confidence, more than they are due. They are also very vocal about it. It's ok to have confidence but they believe they can do no wrong, and that's not true about anyone.
