Do check with your doctor, but here's some info...
(Sumatriptan = Imitrex)

"Nursing Mothers
Sumatriptan is excreted in human breast milk following subcutaneous administration. Infant exposure to sumatriptan can be minimized by avoiding breastfeeding for 12 hours after treatment with IMITREX Tablets."

Translation: If you take imitrex, don't breast feed for 12 hours. Maybe you should pump some breast milk to have on hand. If you need to take it all the time, you probably shouldn't be breast feeding. But, again, check with your doc

Also note that infant exposure is "minimized" not eliminated after 12 hours. It's a tough decision whether to go ahead with the minimal exposure, especially if you take imitrex frequently.

This looks scary I would talk to my doctor if I were you. Imitrex tends to make your blood pressure really low and it IS excreted into the breast milk so I would not do it myself. Your doctor may have a better alternative * have you thought of acupuncture? * Anyway the site above talks about the risks etc... What it boils down to though is talk to your doctor...PERIOD. I hope you feel better. I have severe migraines too after birth ( I think it is hormone related).

I don't think so, as most pain killers find their way into the mother's milk. A phone call to your pharmacist will give you the correct answer.

i wouldn't advise it unless you want your baby to be an addict.
