and lightening, I was wondering do the rest Comet and Cupid etc have a pairing logic. I know it's a bit early but I thought whilst the question is in my head.

I knew that, partly through a basic knowledge of German. I don't believe that the others are anything other than their meaning in English.

You realise that this is also where the term the Blitz come from - lightening strikes...

Donnar and Blitzen are germanic names and thunder and lightening are a good pair....but comet and cupid, no. A comet is a fire ball (meteorite) if you will, and cupid is a Roman god. And I don't think you'll have much luck with the others...especially Rudolf.

Donner and Blitzen means thunder and lightning in German. I see no other pairs of names .

Good question, but I am not too sure if there was much logic involved. Maybe if names sounded good they were used. I can't say, of course, but the paring makes sense.
