We live in a welfare state which has always taken a liberal approach to supporting those in need of benefits and health care. Nothing has changed.
Current immigration policies may seem hazy, but remember that without the support of young asylum seekers and immigrants working within our ageing population the British economy would suffer drastically and probably collapse.
The impact of illegal asylum is vastly overblown by the right leaning media. This country's economy loses more money through unpaid parking tickets than it does supporting illegal immigrants.
As for the well running dry, consider that the United Kingdom has been the world's fifth largest economy since 1980 and most sectors are growing substantially each year, and that London has now overtaken New York and Tokyo as the world's largest financial centre, thanks to the financial policies implemented by the current government.

I am more worried about our social underclass who can't be bothered to work, or is mysteriously sick with no obvious signs of any illness, except a Mobility car and benefit book.
The best thing to do with asylum seekers is let them in, this is the humane thing to do. Seeking asylum is NOT illegal, it is a legal device for making sure the world's desperate can flee adverse conditions. Then once here, compel them to work. It seems absurd to me that the country complains about asylum seekers claiming benefit, while the law oddly FORBIDS them from working. Let them work and pay tax.

while i glance returned into the historic previous of the united kingdom I regularly think of that the individuals who made Briton great would turn in there graves on the state of this u . s . a .. the government do no longer hear to the needs and needs of the inhabitants. regularly they become fixated on sound bites approximately ordinary restoration problems. The underlying concern with this u . s . a . pertains to our open reliable nature. If sense that we are abused by ability of the government the two in terms of them no longer listening and removing our civil liberties. Come the revolution maximum if no longer all politicians would be the 1st up against the wall. Ja.

It's dry now and will get worse. It shows how bad it is when you see Brown proposing to charge pubs if the regulars play darts or cards etc. He can't think of enough ways to get his hand in our pockets. Socialism stinks, it used to be for the working man but today the only ones to benefit are the already rich.

Well, it seems the NHS are unable to fund some necessary treatments in some areas, so THEY are clearly running out of money. Wonder where all that national insurance that millions of us paid into for so many years has gone!

You native Brits have a BIG problem! Better convert to Islam soon before you lose you head (and it won't be "for painting the roses red!").
