I'm a college student living in a dorm right now and I fell off my lofted bed about an hour and a half ago after taking a nap (my alarm clock really startled me). I fell onto a sharp plastic object and now I have a gash on my leg. It was really bleeding bad, but it's stopped. My concern is that I have a really sharp pain there now, especially when I walk (I landed right on the bone). Should I see a doctor soon or do you think it will go away eventually? I don't really want to go because I'm in a city I'm not familiar with, but if it would create a problem if I don't go, then I definitely will. The doctor is on campus, but it's on the other campus of my school and that means a 15 minute bus ride.

just because the bleeding stopped does NOT mean you should not see a doctor. There is the risk of infection from the wound and any part of the plastic item may have broken off and be in your wound. ALWAYS see a doc even if there is a minor inconvenience in doing so. Better to be safe than sorry.

It's only a 15 minute bus ride. What is 15 minutes when it comes to our health and well-being. If you are still experiencing pain, there may be another problem that you are not aware of.
Please, don't take any chances with your health go and see the Doctor.

You should def. see a doctor when bleeding like that. You could get a serious infection if not treated right. I hate doctors too, but I would go in this case. Maybe have your roomate drive you there or a friend. You could even have internal bleeding( which is VERY rare).. but you should still check it up. good luck!

Well, if you do decide to go, go before 24 hrs is up. After that, they can't really do much to stitch you up or anything. Use your best judgement. If you think something isn't right, go to the doc. If you think you'll be all right, don't worry about it.
