Tomorrow, telemarketers will be able to call your cell phone number (you will pay for the minutes) .... unless you call the following number on YOUR cell phone you want to block against these kinds of calls....the block will be in place for 5 years only. From your cell phone, call 888-382-1222
This is the Naitonal DO NOT CALL listing. Do it now, for tomorrow your cell phone could well be ringing off the hook!

I used the telephone number, ended up with the National Do Not Call registry sponsered by California and the US Government...good for 5 years BUT you must call from the phone you want blocked..won't work with another phone number you may be dialing from. Goldwing

You know... I am so tried of having to "protect" myself from the bad guys and solicitors, it is truly a pain in the a$$! All the regular people like us, have to spend our own time and money for burglar alarms and to block phone calls. I didn't even know about this. So thank you very much for bringing it to my attention. :-)

Did you get an email claiming that your cell phone is about to be assaulted by telemarketing calls because of a new cell phone number database? Those claims are not true. In fact, federal law prohibits telemarketers from using automated dialers to call cell phones. You may place your personal cell phone number on the National Do Not Call Registry, but there is generally no reason to do so. For more information, see the FTC's press release "The Truth about Cell Phones and the Do Not Call Registry".

Thanks, but I tried to call the # you gave us 2ce on my cell and then on my house phone and each time I got a recording saying something about having fun people to talk to and to call 1-800-442-4200 and that's all it said.
I then typed in: 'The National Do Not Call Registry' and got the correct site mentioned in some of the answers above and it said that this wasn't necessary, so I'm totally confused. If you want to check it out it's:

Thank you Goldwing for the reminder. Just told my Hubby. He bounced out of his chair & said Really, Well I better do something about that right now. And he has, but guess what, it won't go into effect in time. We may get calls for up to a month. I guess we should have acted sooner.
The thing is~~If not for you, we would have missed
out all together.
Thanks for the info..~~~Best to you, jill

Thanks! Mine is already on their list....and another reminder that the Do Not Call List expires in June '08 and registering of numbers to the list will be required UNLESS bills before Congress now pass that keep the List active with no expiration dates.

Hi, Goldwing, we took care of this a while ago. My husbands
company sent out an email about it and we did it online.
We also did it again for our home phone.
Anyway, If we don't recognize the number, we don't answer.
Nice quiet evenings now. Thanks, for the reminder anyway.

You can also register at http://donotcall.gov
The majority of telemarketers will honour the list - in fact I have not had one call in over 2 years of registration.

Thanks ! I hope this will serve as a reminder that we
are constantly under seige by vultures like this who are
paying under the table to our Congressmen and the
Big House ---where they gather nightly --holding hands
and say with heads bowed ---
"LET US PREY !"
