Shhh...
Between you and me...The gravitational force is always directed from the center of the one mass to the center of the other. From the center of bale's mass to the center of the Earth and it should be downward no matter where you are, even if you are in Australia.
(It is 245 Newtons and pointing down)

Now, would you tell me the name of that farmer's daughter.

F=W=mg
mg= 25 kg x 9.81m/s^2= 245N
