Although an avid speeder myself, I have to disagree. Speeding does not kill people alone. This is true. However, with current city roads, there are miles upon miles of highways and roads that are just too small to support Nascar driving.
My biggest pet peeve is someone who slows down to a crawl when they could easily make travel move if they went the speed limit. However, the law prohibits speeding because you are more likely to injure yourself going much faster than you are slowing down.
I love the trick question since you are mearly stating the acceralation part of the drive does not kill. This is true. I can also say, stopping abruptly in a desolate road does not kill either. You were not specific in each situation so therefore the question is incomplete. The other 2 paragraphs were just my ranting and raving about stupid drivers.

It's a bit like flying - it's the last six inches which cause the plane to explode on impact!

Speeding does kill people because if you didn't see them, you'd just run them over and keep going. : (
