I couldn't agree more. I think there are two reasons why we keep electing 'tools'.
One problem is that we have is that we have a very unfortunate anti-intellectual streak in American culture. We don't trust anyone who seems too intelligent. Every Democratic candidate for president is bashed by the Republicans as somehow too smart, therefore not to be trusted. They even tried to do this with Clinton! It goes back at least as far as Adlai Stevenson in the 50s. Maybe farther. Our benighted president even acted dumber than he was during the campaign of 2000, pretending not to be able to pronounce certain words, and speaking in a fake accent (which he still does when he speaks in the South).
Another problem is corruption. People will support corruption if they think it benefits them. So an honest man doesn't have a chance. EVERYONE knows how corrupt the Bush administration is, but as you can see a goodly percentage of Americans support him anyway because they think the corruption gives them some advantage.
I forget who said it, but it's true: We get the government we deserve.

Our political system and the ranting and raving of extreme right wingers may make this an impossible task.
Obama makes the most sense to me and it will be unfortunate that he won't be able to win. Ther are several candidates that just don't have the charm and looks of a Mitt Romney for the most Americans to take seriously.

Yes it is and it's been a long time since we have had someone like that in the White House. We don't have any one like that running for president right now so where do we find this person.

I didn't know the responsibility of keeping peace around the globe rested on the American President. Unfortunately for anyone who gets elected, they will undoubtedly dissapoint you as we do not control evil in the world.

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeelllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll yes! Ron Paul. The answer speaks for itself. He wasn't in the armed forces but he got Rudy Guiliani told and that is good enough for me because that man is an enemy to your country.

Can you even imagine how hard it must be to be President? Then to have your country bash you at everything you do? Nobody I know would even want the job. So show some respect.
