What's hopefully (by Pelosi) accomplished is that Turkey blows us off as an ally and refuses to allow transportation routes for supplies for the troops in Iraq.

She doesn't have the votes to lose this war straight on, so she's doing everything possible to wreck it any way she can.

Any condemnation of Turkey should also have attached the first official condemnation of the treatment of Native Americans by the US.
My family's ancestors marched in the Trail of Tears, which was ordered by Andrew Jackson so his political friends could have the land of "indians" who had houses, farms and children going to college.
You'll never see that. It's so much easier to point out other people's mistakes.

Congress passes dozens of resolutions during any given term -- some of them having political purpose, some of them just posturing -- and it's been that way for decades.

A resolution is just a public statement by Congress (or one chamber) as a entity -- and voting on the statement is the way the rules say that entity makes the statement.

It's really nothing different than a Presidential Press Conference -- just different procedural rules involved

The Kurds were also victims in the Armenian genocide. there will just be more fighting. the resolution should have been passed by the UN,not the US. nothing will be accomplished

Congress tried to pass this same resolution when President Clinton was in office and he stopped it. The only reason to do it now is to hurt President Bush. If it was a bad move when Clinton was in office then it's a bad move now .

I guess they didn't have the time to condemn the Catholic Church for killing non-Catholics during the Inquisition.
