It should be short and to the point. Do not go on and on about how bad you want this... they've heard that all before a thousand times a day. Your resume should speak for itself. Your training should be listed as well as your most recent credits. Your resume should be no longer than 1 page and everything should be legit. Do NOT lie about anything or it vould come back to haunt you.

The cover letter should inform them if you are currently represented by another agent or manager (although disclosure of the specific identity is not necessary), the type of representation you are seeking (i.e. theatrical – which includes Television and Feature Films, Commercial, or both), and a short statement on why they should represent you or your child.

You should also list an industry referrence or two that they know or will recognize. By now you should have been in your classes for a while and have done some theatre, student & indie films. You should have been networking with those people that you've met and finding out who knows who and whos signed with what agency. Ask those people if you can use them as a referrence. If any of them really believe in you and your talent, ask them if they would personally take your submission to their agent.

good luck!

The cover letter is the only thing that you can safely assume will be read by a prospective employer. This is why it is SO important to get right. You need to make a great first impression otherwise your resume will not even be opened.

The cover letter should be no more than 3/4 of a page. It should briefly tell the reader who you are, what job you are applying for and why you are the perfect candidate. Keep it short, put your best foot forward and sell yourself confidently.

At the end of the cover letter, state that you look forward to meeting with them to discuss your achievements and aspirations further.

A cover letter is just a brief summary of who you are, your experience and what you want. It is the first inkling of what your personality is like and who you are. Cover letters are a great way to grab someones attention. They look at resumes and head shots all day long so a great cover letter will increase your chances of getting a call. One paragraph only though...they don't have all day to read a diary. : )

I hate writing resumes and cover letters. I think you should check out the following website:

It has always been really helpful to me.
