I need some ideas for Christmas gifts for my nieces and nephews that aren't expensive. The girls range in ages from 7 to 12. (One is 7 and the other 5 are 9 -12.)The boys are 6 and 13 respectively. I was thinking maybe journals for the older girls with writing pens to go along with. I haven't any ideas for the boys and my youngest niece.Any one have ideas?

As much as I like the idea for gift cards....it takes all the fun out of the personal touch of buying the gift. Aslo, i've had a semi-bad experience with gift cards.

i think the journal idea for the older girls is a good idea. if the youngest niece is 7 then i think she would like a journal also or maybe one of those cute little girl diaries. the 13 yr old nephew i would get a gift card for unless there is something he collects or really enjoys....maybe a CD. the 6 yr old boy well hmm maybe something educational or a small toy that he is interested in.

No it is not selfish to not buying gifts for nieces and nephews. You have 9 so that would be a lot of money. My thinking is you should at least buy a card for their birthday, and maybe a card for the family at christmas. My aunty has the right idea, she gets a card and then puts a couple of $1 instant scratch cards in it. You get the joy of scratching the cards then if you win something it is a great treat. You need to find some sort of balance because it seems like it is upsetting you, you could always just discreetly call your brothers/sisters talk to them about it.

For the girl I'd suggest some kind of easy arts and crafts kit. For the boy(6) maybe a lego set, a book, or some kind of outdoor toy, ya know, like sometimes they have those weird frisbee things. For the other boy(13) maybe a book, a video game(if they have a system), maybe an iTunes giftcard(only if they have an iPod) Theres soo many things, I'm sure you'll find something they'll all love! Klutz has some awesome things that any of them will love!

I gave mine the Daniel Boone series that has come out and been remastered. The show were on tv in the 60s and are pretty good and funny. mine really enjoy them and I have been giving them a series a year (they have come out with 1-4) Each one has an entire season. They just love it and so do my brother and sisinlaw.

Best Buy carries them and you can order on line. You'll have to spring for about $40, but they watch them all the time and the stories have a good message. Girls, boys, grownups love em. take care, just what I did and hit the jackpot, don't know what I'll do after next year as that willl be year number four, maybe they wil come out with 5 and 6.

Also if they are sold out you may be able to obtain from eBay and even used they are OK as DVD, but only like $20. I also got the older ones an expository Bible from jsm.org. They normally sell for $125, but have special for $30, have to call so you can get the number there. 2,500 pages. Really explains every verse and they like that.

You could get a barbie doll if she's into that, even a cute outfit that's not very expensive or something. When I was little, I always like little figurines whether they were dinosaurs or dogs or whatever. I like the ideas of journals! Boys are always hard to buy for. That's all I could come up with. It's soo hard buying for people sometimes though...

Let me suggest to you,Mc Donald gift cards. They get the biggest kick out of paying for their own food. The older ones can use them after school...5 or 10 bucks go a far way....

Activity books and art kits from companies like Klutz and Creativity for Kids are easy on the wallet and lots of fun. The children have to actively play with them--they won't wind up in a corner with a bunch of other toys! I especially like the jewelry and bobblehead kits from Creativity for Kids, the MAke Your Own Shrink Art Jewelry Book and th Paper Airplane book from Klutz. There's something for every age group.

I think journals and pens are also a great idea. They sell such pretty ones these days.
