you know sometimes it is really hard to tell but I do think that he and his wife would do anything to keep her safe if you know what i mean . I think they have come to consider her their real daughter and nothing will ever change that . good luck and happy watching .

Neither, really. He's just devoted to Claire. He will do anything to protect her. Last season he had his partner shoot him so she could escape the Company, and he will kill anyone who threatens her. He has good intentions in general, but is ruthless when it comes to achieving his goals. For what it's worth, he's her adoptive father. Nathan Petrelli, Peter's brother, is her biological father.
Last season he worked for the Company, and his job was to 'bag and tag' people with special abilities. His partner, the Haitian, can erase memories, so they'd capture people, put the tracking device in place, erase their memories and let them go. They got both Matt and Ted last season. He made sure nobody knew that Claire had an ability, and when she manifested her indestructibility he had the Haitian shoot him and take Claire into hiding for her own protection. He and Matt worked on taking down the tracking system - there were two of them, and one was Molly Walker, a little girl. He was willing to kill her to protect Claire, but Matt stopped him. He's now working with Mohinder to destroy the Company so that Claire can have a normal life.
You really should watch Season 1, it'll make a lot more sense. Barring that, there are detailed recaps at http://www.televisionwithoutpity.com/portal/site/TelevisionWithoutPity/menuitem.5853592f3d9209d415fc0f1045001d30/?vgnextoid=0e697b759e4b2110VgnVCM1000006dc1d240RCRD&ShowName=Heroes

Clair's dad used to work for "The Company" an organization that was started by a handful of people with powers and is made up of people with powers and without. 'The Company' was supposed to find everyone with powers and assess whether they were a threat to society or not and deal with them accordingly. "The Company" was also involved in a plot to allow the destruction of half of New York for the purpose of setting up a puppet president to further their ends. Claire's father, in hopes of protecting his adopted daughter, who is one of the "Heros", "quit" The Company and now the family is in hiding. There is an element of dichotomy in that Claire used to want a "normal life" and to "fit in" and now she wants to exhibit her abilities as opposed to feeling like she had "her own private freak show" (in her words).
Basically Claire's dad used to look like the bad guy but now seems like he isn't so bad. He just wants what is best for his family, and to take down "The Company"

All would be revealed. regardless of the incontrovertible fact that, it relatively is risk-free to assert that they are the two morally gray. they each and every so often do undesirable issues for sturdy motives, and robust issues for undesirable motives. they are neither sturdy nor evil. area of the subject of the teach is that no-one is organic sturdy and no-one is organic evil. each and every so often people who recommend properly reason spectacular harm, on an analogous time as people who're evil might do something egocentric that happens to be for the greater advantageous sturdy. Season a million replaced into super. basically save putting in there and luxuriate interior the trip!

We are not sure what he is. I want him to be honest that his main goal is to keep her safe..she is adopted, you know, and he was once involved on the bad side of the company who made these people Heroes. May I suggest that you go to the library and barrow the first season DVD and make your own conclusions..or check NBC site and see if they have archived the first season's shows for you to watch on your computer.

Good, loves Claire like a good father should and wants to protect her. At first from the commercials I thought he was a bad guy working for the CIA who would do horrible experiments on Clair but instead he worked at protecting her.

you would really be better off watching the first season, but he is neither good nor evil, he does what he thinks he needs to do, mostly to keep Claire safe.
