My periods are usually very very regular (as in, down to the day 28 days). But in the past couple of months they've been bouncing all over the place.
At the end of April I had a period, but then I finished exams, moved home for the summer, and didn't have another until halfway through June, so it was a few weeks late.
They were regular in June, July, and August...
but now I haven't had one since the beginning of August! I moved back to school in August, so maybe my schedule / eating habits changed a little (but not much).
I do have a boyfriend and we are physical (I know you can get pregnant without actually *having* sex) but we are both painfully aware of the dangers of physicality and we're careful.
How likely is it that, as a virgin, I'm pregnant AND my pregnancy test was a "false negative"? what else could be causing this?
thank you for your answers!

First of all, congratulations on staying a virgin.
Second of all, some of these people fell asleep during health class. You do not need to have sex to get pregnant. If your boyfriend ejaculated near your vagina, the sperm could have made it to your egg. How likely is that - not very.
Some women never get a positive pregnancy test - can only be verified by blood tests. So, while that is a scary option, you may want to get a blood test done.
Also, as others have said, and more than likely, it is something else. Thyroid is probably your likely target. That, and the stress of a new routine, etc.
Good luck.

Ok,
Well, i am 15 years old. But when i started my period it didn't come every 28 days. Well, i too am a virgin and will stay one until i get married. I went to the doctor for my regular check up and she said that it's normal for someone who has just started their period and also it may happen for a long time. Keep staying virgin and you'll be ok. Thank god you're not pregnant!! I love to see people who believe in the same things that i do. Don't have sex until you're married.

If you are careful and still a virgin, why would you even take a pregnancy test?
But anyways, to answer your question- from what you are saying, it sounds like stress is causing your periods to be off. You said that they were irregular when you had exams and went back to school but regular when you were home. Sounds like stress to me.

I assume you mean you are careful not to get any ejaculate anywhere near your vagina (I.e. on hands, clothes that then touch you). Even if he spilled his seed all over you it would be a long shot (to coin a phrase).
you know that you can miss periods due to stress and bad nutrition or low body weight, as well as due to hormone problems? I suspect this is your problem.
I would suggest you buy a few lottery tickets, as you're more likely to win the lottery than to turn out pregnant from the way you describe things.

Very very unlikely. You are most likely not pregnant. Why don't you go and see the doctor if you're really worried? If you are afraid to see your family doctor is there some kind of family planning clinic you could visit? If you're at university I'd be surprised if there wasn't some kind of student service where you could have a confidential test by and expert and put your mind at rest.

see a doctor. there are a lot of reasons why your period could go a little crazy. lots of stress, rapid weight loss, etc. and the more you freak out about it, the more crazy it's going to get. although it doesn't seem like there's much possibility of you being pregnant, a doctor can do a blood test. and even if stress is the issue behind your period's inconsistencies, then at least you'll know and be able to stop stressing about it.

Stress can cause irregularity with your periods. You can be under stress and not even realize how or why, but your body knows better.
As for getting pregnant without having sex is absolutely impossible. That has only happened once in history and will never ever happen again. Mary, Mother of Jesus is the only person to conceive without sex. If you are having sex and your partner is pulling out before the bomb drops. Then, you are not a virgin and you are having sex. You can still get pregnant if you are practicing this type of birth control, you are still at risk of getting pregnant because it only takes a drop of drip to make a baby.

nope, you're not pregnant. it's just the way a woman's body does. but it seems to me like you are under a *lot* of stress, and probably some of it is from fear of pregnancy AND do i detect a hint of guilt? if you feel guilty for anything you're doing, just back up a few steps and don't do whatever it is that is making you feel that way. it will probably put a lot less stress in your life, and might even help your periods get back on track. worth a try IF there's guilt involved.

I agree with pooh. There are loads of thing that can make a woman who is normally regular irregular. The chances of your being pregnant really are very, very, very low. More likely is stress, diet, maybe a thyroid or, as pooh said, a cyst. Get it checked out, but don't worry too much *reassuring smile*
