i go to their profile and check out their Q&A and what level they are on!if they are a level one and haven't asked or answered anybody then i block them!if they haven't answered my questions and i haven't answered any of theirs i block them!i used to add everybody then i started to get VNS!so i cleaned out my account of those i wasn't sure of,and just kept those i could trust!
it's a shame, cause we never had to do that before!!

A LOT. I do a great deal of investigation before I am positive they are not a troll. My profile is private but I allow email. Last week, two people made ( I think they were the same person ) and one of them emailed me about six times wanting to know why I wouldn't accept her. I found out she wanted to IM and email because she had trolled me and sought out my answer to a question and for whatever reason, decided to troll me. I blocked her a** and she said she didn't care. She had only created the profile that very day. So did the other person, and they also hadn't answered a question - they were looking for MINE. They emailed me with a stupid and personal question. Trust me, I do my work. I've been burned in the past and my motto is: Do Not Feed The Trolls. I also found out that since my profile is Private, if I respond to a troll's email, they can still have a link to me. If you get email from someone suspicious, DO NOT respond back. Put it in the junk file.

I don't pay much attention to who has put me on as a contact, actually. I did in the beginning, but then I decided just to let it go. I would go in and block someone if they were being a jerk to me, but I've never had that happen. Other than that, anyone that wants to add me can add me. It just means more answers, and more opinions.
In my real life, people don't give me their "straight up" opinion on most things. So I'm happy to have all answers, even if they are... umm.... disagreeing with my point of view? Then I get to see the other point of view....

I didn't know you had a choice when someone adds you, but I do check to see who has them as contacts and I only add if it's someone who's answers I have seen quite a bit.

before nothing ,
but now that we are in the troll wars
i at least check the profile and some of the questions and answers ,and sometimes even discuss them with some trusted colleges ,to ask if they think the element is kosher.
I am learning something from Purr girl thanks
life is getting too damn complicated

I usually check out their profile based on their questions, answers, and on their contacts as well. If they check out then I accept their add requests. If not then I don't accept and instead I block them and remove them altogether.

A few things. Nothing too extensive. As long as they're not a basket case they're fine with me.

I only add ones that I know from previous accounts I've had, otherwise they'd better be pretty damn spectacular for me to add them
