Birth control doesn't actually make you gain weight. It messes up your hormones which makes you crave greasy food and not want to work out or anything, so you end up gaining weight as an indirect result. I've been on a bunch of different birth controls and gained weight with all of them. But, now I'm on Yaz, and I might have gained 1 or 2 pounds, if that. I don't feel the cravings and fatigue like I did on other birth control. Just make sure you eat healthy and exercise, even after getting on the pill.

It depends on the type of birth control you are using. If you use condoms, then no. If you use the Pill, then yes. I gained so much weight when I started taking the Pill and went up by at least three sizes. But I still take the Pill because I know that if I don't, then I could become a LOT heavier!!!!

Drink lots of water.
I don't take Yaz, but the only time birth control made me gain weight was when I was on the shot, and Yaz, although a pill, works similar. I suggest taking it, watching what you eat, and if you gain weight when you shouldn't have, get off and try something new.

When I went on birth control I gained about 6 or 7 pounds.. but it was an up side for me because I've always been terribly naturally underweight. Now my weight is healthy. Usually your doctor would reccommend some other form of birth control when someone is overweight, because they know one of the main side effects of being on the pill is weight gain. Maybe speak to your doctor again to ask them is there is an alternative that might suit you better? :]

Not everyone gains weight, and for those that do it's just water weight. Avoid carbonated beverages and salty foods and you should be fine. You're not going to totally pork up or anything. BTW, all the weight I gained was in my breasts, so it's not always a bad thing!!! You're better off being on the pill than worrying about gaining a few pounds.

It is normal to gain up to 10 pounds on birth control pills. The only way I know to stop it is to actually lose weight and then the weight gain from the pill won't matter. It comes right off when you go off the pill.

Some women does gain weight on the pill. (my sis did). I've been taking it for awhile and haven't gain any weight but i had side effect to the first one i was taking so, i switched; maybe you can try switching to another brand. Lower doses perhaps.

I think its a fallacy based on age and maturation. As we age, we tend to gain weight. We gain in our teens, twenties and thirties and that is also the time we use bc. That being said, don't over eat.
