I'd say (smallest to largest):
Base
DNA
Gene
Chromosome

A base is one of the parts that makes up a nucleotide, which are the smallest parts of a DNA molecule.

Once you put two nucleotides together, you have a molecule of DNA.

A gene is a fairly long piece of DNA that is expressed in a cell.

There are many genes in a chromosome.

Base - genetic information is encoded in a 4 letter aphabet consisting of 4 nucleotide bases.

DNA - combinations of each kind of base are strung together to form a long starnd of DNA. The arrangement of the bases is the genetic code, much like the arrangement of individual letters in words.

Sections of the DNA strand are responcible for certain characteristics which get passed along to an organisms offspring. These sections of DNA are called genes. Each gene expresses a particular characteristic.

Chromosomes are tightly packed sections of DNA containing many genes. The sex chromosomes are responcible for the sexual characteristics of an organism.

Smallest is base, then gene, but DNA and chromosome are different names for the same thing

Chromosomes are made up of Genes (multiple genes are on one chromosome), which are made up of DNA, which is made from nucleotide bases.

So the answer is:
Base
DNA
Gene
Chromosome

The first two guys know nothing of biology.
