One of those really blah depressing days. Any thing at all to make me smile would be appreciated. Thank you...

In Ian Urbina's "Life's Little Annoyances," a book about people who became upset with something, there is a true story about one Aaron Naprastek, a New York City resident who became irritated at the needless honking of car horns. So he began posting "honkus," 17-syllable poems inspired on the occasion of a particularly egregious honking session.

His first was "You from New Jersey
honking in front of my house
in your SUV"

Later, he wrote "Terrorism is
a Lincoln Continental
leaning on the horn"

Other people began reading his honkus, and posting their own. One favorite he found:
"Oh, Jeezus Chrysler
what's all the damned honking Ford?
please shut the truck up!"

Other good books to lift you up from sadness:

"Expecting Adam," Martha Beck, Ph.D. from Harvard and now lifestyle writer for "Mademoiselle." Her book is funny, warm, kind, and insightful. Very worthwhile.

Also, "Extraordinary Knowing," by Elizabeth Mayer, a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Stanford, whose daughter's harp, stoeln, they couldn't locate, until a friend suggested she try a dowser living across country. She did--and the book describes how she found some strong data to confirm that such things do work.

"Mindset" by Carol Dweck, Ph.D. professor of psychology at Stanford, is very worthwhile. While the public doesn't know much about her, she is doing great work with actors, athletes, and teachers, helping them to become more flexible and able to learn. Very easy, inspiring, and the book has lots of celebrity examples.

"Harry Potter and Philosophy," ed, by Baggett and Klein, is great.

"The Great Divorce," C. S. Lewis, likewise--a novella about a trip to heaven.

"Watch Your Dreams," Ann Ree Colton, has lots of good advice, as do "The Yoga of Nutrition," O. M. Aivanhov, and "Climb the Highest Mountain," Mark Prophet.

Http://www.divinecosmos.com is site for the person who's the subject of the book "The Reincarnation of Edgar Cayce?", by Free and Wilcock. Talks about depression and how it was handled.

Http://www.coasttocoastam.com has info on its daily evening radio program, which has some great motivational guests, and a few funny ones (acutally, consider listening to) the Saturday evening program hosted by Ian Punnett for humor, especially).

Remember, Love God, learn to earn, and be happy, are ways to health and joy.

regards, sorry you're not feeling better right now,

j.

I don' tknow what your beliefs are, but this song always brings joy to my heart:o)

BEFORE THE THRONE OF GOD ABOVE
Shane & Shane version

Before the throne of God above
I have a strong and perfect plea.
A great high Priest whose Name is Love
Who ever lives and pleads for me.
My name is graven on His hands,
My name is written on His heart.
I know that while in Heaven He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart.

When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within,
Upward I look and see Him there
Who made an end of all my sin.
Because the sinless Savior died
My sinful soul is counted free.
For God the just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me.

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Praise the One risen Son of God.

Behold Him there the risen Lamb,
My perfect spotless righteousness,
The great unchangeable I AM,
The King of glory and of grace,
One in Himself I cannot die.
My soul is purchased by His blood,
My life is hid with Christ on high,
With Christ my Savior and my God!

Go to YouTube and search for laughing babies. You can't help but to smile at them.

Remember,
love is infinite,
hatered only goes so deep,
and being noble enough,
is better than being a little-bit vilanous.
