Solar radiation is any radiation from the Sun. Visible light is a form of solar radiation and it is clearly beneficial. Infrared and ultraviolet light are other forms of solar radiation. Infrared is heat and ultraviolet causes suntans, sunburns and the ozone layer. And the Sun does emit other wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation, like X-rays and radio waves.
But the Sun also emits subatomic particle radiation. This is the nuclear radiation most people are afraid of. It is damaging to living tissue. Nearly all of it is prevented from reaching the Earth by the Earth's atmosphere and magnetic field, but it is a hazard to space flight. Especially during times of high solar activity the Sun can emit sudden strong bursts of this kind of radiation and if caught in space that can be dangerous to astronauts. In low Earth orbit the astronauts are still inside Earth's magnetic filed, and also so close to Earth that it blocks half the sky (there is still day and night as the astronauts orbit Earth, and on the night side the Sun's radiation is not hitting them). But in interplanetary space they would be at risk. Apollo missions to the Moon were short enough (a week or 10 days) that they could complete a round trip between solar outbursts. If one had happened during an Apollo mission, they wouold have aborted and returned to Earth as quickly as possible. Luckily, that never happened. But on a flight to Mars than takes more than 2 years for the round trip it is a definite danger.

Solar radiation is pretty much the output of the sun.. light, heat, other electromagnetic radiation, and to some extent the solar wind.

solar radiation is radiant energy emitted by the sun from a nuclear fusion reaction that creates electromagnetic energy
if you were in space and exposed to solar radiation youd die
luckly the earths magnetic field protects us from solar radiation

When the sun belches, we get a wave of solar radiation, which can disrupt all kinds of electronics on Earth and in satellites in our orbit.

Flaming asteroids thrown from the sun ... they can wipe out all computer systems, damage anything down to electricity. I saw a show on this in the summer on Discovery. Pretty interesting. I believe they are called Solar Flares. Very interesting.

Sunshine! 15 to 20 minutes a day provides Vitamin D, too much can lead to skin cancer.

hazards include, increased risk of skin cancer from DNA damage due to ultraviolet rays, increased aging of skin meaning thinner skin and more wrinkles. positives, skin produces vitimin D from sun exposure, elevates mood causing happy feelings due to rush of endorphins. astetic value, tanned skin in western culture means the person is active, outdoorsy, and in good health. hope that helps
