It seems that in today's America everyone wants the government to control everything such as healthcare, retirement, etc. thus chipping away bit by bit at our freedom. I just wonder if our Founding Fathers who were adamant about less government would even have a chance at winning an election in today's America. So sad where our country is headed.

No, they were excessively liberal, and would be attacked on far too many fronts.

EDIT:
Stereo, you just proved my point by attacking the meaning of the word "Liberal". The meaning of the word has not changed, just your personal interpretation of it.

They knew more about what the vision for America was than anyone else. Most could do well. Jefferson could win but I don't think Washington could win today. They lived in a different time with a diffrent set of circumstances and issues. They were ultra liberal for their times and some like Washington, for example, would be more of a conservative today. Jefferson, on the other hand, would be a centrist leaning slightly toward the left. Like Jefferson, Madison and Monroe would be up the center with slight left leanings. John Adams would be center leaning right. Hamilton would be the only true righty in the bunch. Ben Franklin would be the one farthest to the left.

CrazyJ, your an idiot. Our founding fathers were extremely religious. You've bought into the lying liberal "demon"crat myth about religious beliefs in our founding fathers. It's a lie. But no, none of our founders would win an election in today's loony America. Just as one example, if you brought back to life our founding fathers and showed them the freedom destroying gun laws that exist today they would only have three words. "Lock and load."

They wouldn't have a prayer!

The American Constitution has been thoroughly abused by right-wing interests. The founding fathers were all for looking after the poor. That's a sure-fire way to lose an election controlled by the wealthy!

The founding fathers would lose badly because they wouldn't understand the power of the 30 second sound bite. They would launch into some detailed thought filled oratory and lose half their audience in 5 minutes. Then they would commit suicide after realizing what our petty idea of democracy was.

George Washington had wooden teeth and wouldn't have been nominated. Can you imagine the debate? "Of course Washington is in favor of wood subsidies!" and "How do you feel about import taxes on lumber, Mr. Washington?"
No, taking a stand because it's in the best interest of the United States isn't considered by most of todays crop of candidates.

No, their lack of religious belief and isolationist policies would do them in. Being religious warmongers appears to be the formula for getting elected now-a-days.

Not a chance. They went to war over a 5% tax on tea. Imagine what the liberals would say about that!

Think: They were Liberal, but not like today's liberals who want you to pay high taxes and have the government run everything. The meaning of the word has changed.
